How to Apply for SHAC Membership

SHAC is open to interested artists and creatives to apply for membership if you satisfy our application criteria. Successful candidates will have to join a waiting list for housing and will need to commit to the challenges of growing SHAC into its next stage.  If you have the enthusiasm, passion and willingness, and fit the criteria below, please contact us.

        Criteria for Applying

  • Be a practising artist or creative*.

  • Be prepared to commit to monthly meetings and contribute to the business of the co-operative, for example putting together grant applications, fundraising etc.

  • Demonstrate that you have the capacity to have an on-going commitment as an active SHAC member.
How to Submit an Expression of Interest
Download an Expression of Interest (EOI)  and email SHAC a short bio outlining a little about your art practice, financial situation and housing needs.

You will then be invited to an informal SHAC introduction session. If you meet the basic criteria, prospective members are then required to attend a number of monthly SHAC meetings and join a SHAC sub-committee.

Please note that currently potential SHAC tenants are assessed under the
The National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS). Your past 12 months income is assessed, ie bank accounts, salaries, centrelink payments, etc. Please see the document below for more details.
